Polymer Clay Buttons

Polymer Clay Buttons

10.00am - 4.00pm

Do you struggle to find the buttons you like? Perhaps you need some unusual buttons for a special project? So come and make your own!

Polymer clay is a fantastic material for making buttons. In its raw state, colours can be mixed to suit and shapes can be easily textured and moulded into a huge range of shapes and sizes. Once baked, it's machine washable and lightweight, so if you are a stitcher, carder, knitter or felter - or just enjoy learning a craft, this course is for you.

I will explain and demonstrate how to make your own molds; prepare and condition the clay; select and mix colours; shape and texture your buttons; make holes or add shanks and how to bake and finish your creations. Handouts summarising the techniques will be provided.

Students will spend their day trying each of the methods demonstrated whilst developing their skills, choosing their favourite styles and making a range of their own buttons before baking at least 3 dozen assorted beauties to take home!
