Silver Ring Workshop
Silver Ring Workshop
10.00am - 5.00pm
Silver metal clay is an amazing material! Made from recycled silver, mixed with organic binders and moisture, it can be textured, shaped, cut and moulded like clay, but, when it's fired, it reverts to become 99.9% fine silver again. This means that you don't need any prior jewellery making or silversmithing skills to enjoy this media and make beautiful, fine silver jewellery pieces!
On this fun and relaxed workshop, you’ll learn how to measure and size your ring correctly, allowing for clay shrinkage; how to prepare the mandrel to take your clay and how to make a seamless ring shank whilst incorporating your design ideas. You’ll be able to add surface decoration and other silver embellishments to your hearts content!
Once you’ve refined your ring, we will kiln fire it for maximum strength ready for you to polish and patina if you wish.
This workshop is suitable for those aged 16+.
10g of silver, use of all tools, materials and equipment required and refreshments are included in the course fee.
You may want to bring…
A camera/phone to record your progress
A notebook and pen
A pack lunch
Please note that if you wish to make a ring for someone else, you will need to bring the diameter of their finger in millimetres.

My workshop classes have a maximum of six places for polymer and just four for silver. This ensures that everyone gets plenty of support and help when they need it, and everyone can work at their own pace. There is no minimum number of students required before a class will run so please don't be concerned that once you have booked, your class might be cancelled. Once you have paid, I will send you a Course Information Sheet which is your confirmation that I have received your booking. It includes a detailed map and tells you what to expect on the course and what to bring so, look out for this in your inbox!
If you have any questions at all, please get in touch here or ring me, Jo, on 01566 784713.
